"A child fills a special place inside your heart- -

a place you never knew was empty." -Unknown

As all you new mothers know, there's not a whole lot of spare time with a newborn and a busy two-year-old running around. Plus, my mom is in town so I've been soaking up any spare moments with her, but I did want to post some more pictures and just say that I LOVE being a mom. It's so wonderful. Magson is a dream baby and I am in love. It's amazing how he's brought our little family even closer together. I apologize for the randomness and disorder of these pictures, but I've got to get to bed while Magson's sleeping!

Thanks for all of your warm wishes and thoughts...I feel your love and support and I'm so grateful for such awesome family and friends.

Flight Cancelled

So scratch that last post. Over the last few days I've been feeling really unsettled about having Magson induced just yet--no particular reason--but I just can't ignore the feelings I'm having. I'm going to wait until his due date--a week from today-- before I consider getting induced again. My doc is going out of town Saturday, but hopefully he can talk one of his colleagues into inducing me next week if it comes to that. I definitely don't want my mom to miss the whole thing, either! That would be awful. So here's to praying he'll just come on his own!

Sorry everyone for the false alarm! I'll keep you posted. :)

Flying Standby

My mom gets here on Tuesday (I'm SO excited!) and leaves the 1st of April, so I asked my doc if he would induce me if Magson doesn't arrive on time because I want my mom to have plenty of time with Liam, and I want as much of her help as possible! He said the soonest he could do it after my due date would be the 31st because he's getting ready to go out of town, and so we've decided to do it before he leaves town--this Wednesday. Well, if there's room. I'm flying standby at the hospital since I don't have a "real" reason to get induced. So starting this Wednesday I'm supposed to start calling the hospital to see if they have "room in the inn" for me to be induced. Agh! It feels so surreal to think I'll likely have a new member of our family to love in just days. Again, agh!!!!

Maggie Quotables

Maggie, sitting down to a bowl of yogurt: "This is my best day ever."

Maggie: "Mommy, what sound a heart make?"
Me: "Uh, a heart doesn't really make a sound." (I'm thinking of the shape not the organ.)
Maggie: "Ba-boom, Ba-boom!"
Nothin' like getting schooled by my two-year-old.

Maggie: "Baby brother is kicking me in my tummy!"

Me: Look, Maggie! There's an airplane! Where do you think it's going?
Maggie: It's going to Germany, maybe.

We have a giant book of German children's songs that Isabella has really taken to lately. I know about three songs--Stille Nacht, O Tannenbaum, and Bruder Jakob and there are hundreds. She desperately wishes I knew more of the songs and gets a little frustrated when I can't sing them. But lately she's perked up and in a tone of relief tells me, "I'm going to ask Grandpa Tracy." Thank goodness I'm not her only resource for learning... and Grandpa Tracy, you might want to freshen up on your German children's songs before you come in May.

I don't know that anyone else would get a kick out of these without her cute little voice attached, but I had to write them down before I forget them completely, and for the time being this blog has replaced my journaling.

Firsts

  • I made my first homemade pizza crust and pizza sauce, and well, pizza. I baked it on an unglazed ceramic tile that I got from Lowe's for $1.50! It turned out pretty yummy. (I got this tip from Crystal's friend Alyssa...I don't know you, Alyssa, but thanks!) I'm still working on making my dinners and treats look yummy--that's an art of it's own. I figure I'll get things tasting good first and then I'll worry about appearances. ;)

  • Maggie got her first professional haircut. (Thanks, Melissa!)

  • Magnet and I have decided to make bargain shopping a hobby and so we've subscribed to the Sunday paper and use grocerygame.com to line up coupons with sale items to get the best deals on groceries--sometimes it even comes out free! I've also started inputing the ingredients I have on hand into supercook.com and it comes up with all kinds of recipes that I can make with what I've got. Anyway, we had our first "coupon experience" at Albertsons last week and according to the receipt we saved $35.04. Not bad, right Claire?

Lucked Out

I met this girl at church and I just love her! She's full of life and so passionate about everything she loves. I love passionate people. Anyway, her latest passion is photography. It's made her a "crazy person" as she would describe it. She eats, sleeps, breaths photography and asked if she could "practice" on me and do some maternity pictures. Well, as you can see, she's got skills! I feel so lucky to have some pictures of me pregnant since I seriously have hardly any! Thanks so much, Jess!

PS. And guess what else? She's going to take pics of Magson when he arrives! Oh, I can't wait.

Ten months and Ten Years Later...

...my friend Melissa Porcelli from our good old days at Heidelberg High School comes to visit me from Georgia! We knew each other back in 11th grade when she lived in Heidelberg, Germany for about ten months. We haven't seen each other in a decade! We've been in especially good touch since about October thanks to gchat and upcoming baby due dates (she's due in June), and we decided it was high time for us to get together. She spent about five days with us and reminded me of so many fun times I'd long-forgotten. She has an incredible memory--she even remembers my old phone number. It was so much fun!! Thanks for coming, Melissa!!

US NOW

AND THEN

Here are some pictures of some of what we did this week. I'll probably post more later since we took more pictures on her camera that she's going to email me.

Trip to Seattle

We fed goldfish to the seagulls at Manchester State Park

Melissa got me through Book Club this past week, bless her heart. I'm sure it wasn't so exciting for her since she's never read the book. She helped me bake treats and get the house all ready. Next months' book is The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.

She was also here for the baby shower two friends of mine threw for me. It was so much fun to see my Poulsbo friends and eat yummy crepes and smoothies and we got some really awesome stuff for Magson. Thanks everyone!

The best part of her stay was just hangin' out and chatting and watching movies and eating yummy food. It was so fun to have some girl time!

First Sleepover at Grandma Rise's

This wasn't really Maggie's first sleepover. We've left her with both of our moms in the past when Magnet and I have gone on little trips, but this was the first one-nighter, just-for-fun sleepover. She had a blast sleeping in Uncle Michael's room (he's gone on a mission) and waking up with Buddy (the dog) at the foot of her bed. And of course Grandma Rise spoiled her. She hardly batted an eye when we went to go pick her up, though I was all choked up sending her to stay the night and oh so anxious to pick her up the next morning. Anyway, here she is all packed up and ready to go...
